You must improve your diet before you can expect cardio to help you with weight loss. But most women do the wrong type of cardio (LIE - low intensity exercise) and do not lose weight with long workouts. Research shows there are two better fat burning cardio options.

First, you can switch out your LIE cardio for shorter, high-intensity cardio workouts. If you burn 400 calories in a long, 60-minute easy cardio workout, you'll actually lose more weight and burn more belly fat if you work harder and burn 400 calories in only 30-40 minutes.

Second, you could also use interval training to replace slow cardio workouts. Research shows that three short interval training workouts of only 20 minutes burn belly fat better than three 40-minute easy cardio sessions.

Combined, you can do up to four workouts of interval training and high intensity cardio each week. But don't do more than 4 hard cardio workouts per week, your body will not be able to handle that and you could get injured and your weight loss will suffer.
