Deanna came to me after struggling through 3-4 other trainers who told her she needed to do hours of long, slow boring cardio to lose weight. But she found out the hard way it wasn’t true. Even though she was doing cardio for an hour per day, her thighs and belly fat weren’t shrinking.

Your cardio workouts could be cut in half while you burned more body fat with interval training. Deanna was very excited to hear this and the first thing we did in her program was to switch out the long cardio for fast fat burning interval training workouts. She did these 3 times per week.

On the 4 other days of the week, she did something she enjoyed and stayed active, taking up yoga and long walks rather than tying herself to a cardio machine for an unbearable hour of trying to stay in a useless heart rate zone. Those off day exercise sessions were for health and stress relief, but it was really just the interval training that was getting her fast fat burning results.

So interval training was secret #1. Secret #2 required us to take a look at her diet and improve it by adding more fruits, vegetables, and raw nuts. We cut out breakfast cereals, muffins, and some of the pasta and rice she had at dinner.

This simple secret of removing sugar, processed carbohydrates, and even so-called “healthy low-glycemic moderate carbohydrates” helped her with her fast fat burning goals. She also added a little extra protein to her diet to make sure she was getting 0.8 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight.

The whole natural foods she was eating filled her up and prevented her from having post-meal energy crashes. And finally, it was time for secret #3 in her fast fat burning program. In the past, she had done a lot of machines, including the infamous “adductor machine” that might be the biggest weight machine scam in the world.

We had her stop doing weight machines and focused only on bodyweight exercises, allowing her to do short 15-minute workouts at the park while her children played. Simply by doing squats, bodyweight rows, pushups, split squats and some abdominal stabilization exercises, she was able to lose 7 pounds in just 2 weeks.
